The photos of this place don't do it justice. It's absolutely incredible and the staff was beyond helpful. The lodging is in a remote area, but the staff sent a guide to direct us. The restaurant on site is also really good.

The staff were caring and attentive and provided...

The staff were caring and attentive and provided transportation needs. We ended up not staying both nights at the Habitat. Alterra (the other hotel location) has a wonderful restaurant and pool/pool bar. I enjoyed sitting on the patio of the casita watching the sun set and hearing the howler monkeys.

The website needs more information about driving to Winika Habitat. Do not take the San Mateo Carretera. The road is broken in many places from erosion, cracks so wide and high your tire threatens to get stuck. The road is also washed out in certain places with drop offs and you have very narrow sections that are almost impassable. Because there was no info, we ended up down this dirt road 16km taking an hour and 1/2. We made it, and boy was it an adventure! We found out that guests are supposed to go to Winika Alterra and the hotel staff drives you out to the Habitat in a 4 wheel drive vehicle (down a different dirt road that is much shorter and actually intact!) My basic advice--don't follow google maps. Go to Alterra first.

Difficult to get to, but totally worth it. Magical.

I loved that we were in the middle of the jungle, on new year's morning, we were greeted with the local monkeys hanging out on the tree in front of us. Pets are free and dont raise eyebrows, which was lovely after having to pay extra each night and sign guaranteeing papers. The food served at the property is really good and has vegetarian options. Balconies are a dream and the rooms are simple but comfortable. It was the best place we stayed at in our whole visit. If you need the pool you can go over to their sister hotel Alterra, which I personally think is inferior to Winika.

They dont have wifi, but signal does arrive there so you're bit completely lost. We made the mistake of driving there first as oppposed to Alterrra. DO NOT DO THIS if you dont have a 4x4. leave your car at Alterra and they will transfer you. Its probably the most tedious part, as its 40 minutes away from town and 30 from the ruins.

Beautiful facilities, brilliant and amazingly helpful staff who went above and beyond.

The shuttle service, the helpfulness of the staff, the comfort and overall quality of the room.

The quality/heat of the food, the price of drinks at the Winika Habitat, the shower leaking out into the main room area under the door.

Super adventure and quiet place, the driver and all the staff incredibly kind. The road to reach the structure is quite long anyway they have a jeep and provide for the transfer. No wi-fi over there, but it's the price to pay to stay in a stunning and adventurous accomodation. Highly recommended

The door on the balcony didn't close properly (anyway we asked the staff and we changed the room)

Overwhelming! Our best experience on a 1 month trip through Mexico!

The hotel is located in the middle of the jungle. It takes about 30/45min to get there by car from the winica alterra hotel. The hotel owners drive you there any time. The whole family is extremely nice and welcoming. The staff at the habitat is friendly and good. We had great breakfast, lunch and dinner at the place. It is beautiful, even better then the pictures. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A place of luxury in the middle of a jungle. Great experience.
